Srishti looked around in confusion as everyone began getting off one by one. The conductor was asking them to step out. Within moments, the bus was empty but the conductor didn’t come to Srishti even once.
She whispered softly, “What was that?” The entire bus stood empty before her eyes, and she couldn’t make sense of what had just happened. She stood up slowly and started walking toward the front when someone entered the bus.
Srishti moved a little further ahead, and as soon as she saw the person standing before her, her eyes widened.
She whispered, “Mr. Kapoor?”
Standing in front of her was none other than Mahir Kapoor himself. Mahir was staring at Srishti without a trace of emotion. The look on his face was such that it felt like if anyone came in front of him right now, he could do anything to them and Srishti was standing right there before him.
Without saying a word, Mahir began walking toward her. Seeing him approach, Srishti quickly started stepping back.
Watching him, she asked, “How did you even get here?”
Mahir still didn’t respond. Srishti kept moving backward until she hit the last seat and fell onto it, but her gaze remained locked with his.
Mahir leaned slightly closer, his eyes still fixed on hers, and said, “What did I tell you before? Do you remember?”
Srishti whispered, “I don’t care what you said or didn’t say. Listen, Mr. Kapoor, you……”
Mahir interrupted, “Playing with the wrong things at the wrong time is a very bad habit, Srishti Mishra.”
Her heartbeat was pounding so loudly it almost echoed in her ears. Mahir leaned even closer to her face, and just then, Srishti jerked her head back.
She whispered, “You…” but before she could finish, Mahir suddenly grabbed her wrist and began dragging her out of the bus.
Srishti shouted, “What are you doing? You can’t just take me like this!”
She kept struggling to free her hand, but Mahir didn’t seem affected at all.
